New Hampshire is not known as a golfer’s paradise, but we have some courses there that we can highly recommend. The first is in the state’s capital, Concord. Newport Golf Club is located in the Sugar River Valley in the vacation area of Lake Sunapee-Dartmouth. Designed by Phil Wogan, this course has everything that’s beautiful in New Hampshire, lakes, ponds, streams and mountains nearby. The entire course’s grass, fairways, tee-off areas, and greens is bent grass and some say this makes for the most rewarding golf experience in all of New Hampshire. Also in Concord sits the municipal course, the oldest in the state, opening in 1896. Beaver Meadow Golf Course is particularly beautiful in the fall due to the colors of the leaves of the many mature trees throughout the layout. In the community of Derry, NH, a beautiful way to spend part of a morning or part of an afternoon would be at the par-3 nine hole course at Brookstone Golf & Driving Range. And finally, don’t miss Jack O Lantern Resort, pictured at left, which is situated in Woodstock, NH, which was given a 4-star rating by Golf Digest and is considered one of the best in the state!
